Yay! New Skill!
Well, ok, not new, but since I hadn't driven a stick-shift vehicle in about 10 years, I got to re-learn how to do it. In a red Ford Escort, with over 105,000 miles on it, belonging to Brian, who lent it to me for a couple days. When people tell jokes about how you can tell a friend from a real friend, I've finally figured out the distinction that sets Brian apart: a real friend will lend you their car for two days on an hour's notice, no questions asked. The point is not why I didn't have my own vehicle, but that I'm lucky enough to have real friends. So now, I'll be buying another friend's car, getting it out of his driveway, getting me some hot new wheels... I think I'll look pretty good in it too.
